I have seen town homes where there was a minimal attachment between two structures: just a few feet of painted wood and shingles like you might find between between a home with a detached garage. But I've never seen a truly detached home that was labeled (for marketing reasons or otherwise) a TH.
Do they exist in the Triangle?
I guess I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around what a TH really is. I have heard of SFH communities that had HOA-managed lawn care, but to my knowledge they were never referred to as town homes.
Just looked through some old listings and sometimes they're called condos/townhomes. They're just kinda weird little grad student rentals. Chapel Hill and Carrboro are full of those.
Could you recommend a street that I could drop in on with maps and look around to see these?
there are several places where the HOA covers all exterior lawncare, etc (maybe even exterior maintenance). The Del Webb 55+s are single family homes.
In my friends' case, they told me when they moved in that it was a condo.
