Where does it say 60 days?

"Upon moving to North Carolina from another state, you must register your motor
vehicle at the expiration of the time granted by reciprocity agreement between North Carolina
and your prior state of residence (usually 30 days) or when gainful employment is accepted,
whichever occurs first. Out of state residents moving to North Carolina should obtain a
North Carolina driver license prior to registering a vehicle."

The written test is easy if you spend 30 minutes or so studying.

Sorry, 30 days for registration then. Drivers License is 60 days

Quote:
A new resident has 60 days after establishing residence to obtain a North Carolina license or learner permit.

When we moved we did our license, then insurance (all within 2 weeks of the move). We didn't register the vehicles until 60 days. The insurance worked out well because our rates dropped.

What happens in Cary if you live there 6 months and do not register your car? I know someone who is driving daily, has a suspended license in South Carolina. Does he have to clear his SC record to get a NC license? What happens is he gets caught?

Oops, I meant for your license.
It's not that taking the test is hard, but it is ONE more thing you have to do when you move. I know that when you move within bordering states of NY (CT/NJ etc) you don't have to take a written test so I didn't think there would be a difference moving to NC.
