Can anyone recommend any fun Halloween events (besides trick or treating), either on Halloween or the weekend before? We came up to visit the Raleigh area last month and fell in love and are wanting to come back for a few days around Halloween-ish to experience what a holiday would be like there. My girls are 5 and 2. We were honing in on Cary or Apex but anything fun in the general area would be great.
A bunch of churches have "Trunk-or-Treat" events on Halloween / Halloween weekend. Durham Central Park also has a Trunk-or-Treat event if you don't want to go to a church. I'm guessing the other towns have similar events.
Another fun Durham event: Hallow-Eno, 6-9pm on Halloween at West Point on the Eno Park in Durham. Hayrides, Trick or Treating, games, crafts, face-painting. Free!
