The recipe on the Libby's can comes out great. Make some fresh whipped cream, yum!

K&W do have great pies. I love their coconut butter cream pie.

One place worth checking might be Carlie C' s. I know they make their cakes locally and they are off the chain crazy good. Their 9+layer old fashioned yellow cake with fudge icing is my go to holiday event cake. I wouldn't be surprised if they make their own pies as well. Going to have to inquire next time.

Hate to hear that about Pie Bird. Restructuring doesn't sound good in terms of having to close for a significant time period. Wouldn't be surprised if it's a rental increase, just speculation. That was one of the first restaurants to open in that area of downtown. I'm sure it is missed.

I agree! I can have it in the oven in less time than it would take me to go purchase one!

Publix. I'm not kidding. Best PP I've ever had - they are famous for their bakery.

Yup. Very simple. I don't think I'd buy one.

For people who make pies, have you ever used lard? Do you know where to get lard to make pies?

Food Lion, I don't use it but I've seen it there. A friend swears it makes the best biscuits.

Everything is better with lard. I grease the pan with lard when I bake slab cornbread...heavily grease the pan with lard I buy lard from Food Lion.
