We are moving to Raleigh in the next few months. We've made an offer on a house in The Gates at Ethan's Glen and it was accepted. We close in April. I have two boys ages 4 and 5. They are in school during the day. Currently we have a nanny, but I don't think we need a full time nanny any longer. What we do need is someone who can pick them up at school in the afternoon and take them home until I get home from work. Ideally I'd be looking for a college student who wants to make some extra cash. Any suggestions or advice?

Meredith College has a nanny/babysitter program that they run through the financial aid office. I think you can call the main switchboard and they'll transfer you over if you ask to speak with someone about the babysitter program.

There was an article about college student-mommy matching service yesterday in the UNC newspaper. I haven't used them myself but they might be helpful?

You may want to look into some of the childcare facilities near the school your children will attend. Some offer before and after school programs where they will drop off or pickup children from the schools and keep them entertained while the parent is working. I'm not sure if any offer this service to Pleasant Union Elementary, though (I think that is the elementary school for The Gates at Ethan's Glen).
