Don't wear Carolina Blue when you visit. It's a NCSU house and the creatures have no qualms about eliminating the enemy. If you must, then I would recommend standing at a safe distance, maybe across the street.

It's awesome on Halloween night. We stopped by right before 9pm. Got to see all the actors before they started shutting it down. Many of the houses on that block celebrate and ppl come from everywhere just to see it. It looks just like a crowded yard and an old house from the picture but its in historic Oakwood and is generous display for free. Oakwood would not be the same without it.
A little off topic, but in the vein of Halloween leading into Christmas. I highly recommend the Historic Oakwood Holiday tour. It's a great way to see and learn the history of the area. Every year 13 different homes are selected to tour. The owner or a docent guides you through the home and explains the architecture, restoration methods, previous owners and their historical significance and of course the beautiful Christmas trees and decor. I've gone almost every year since I moved back to Raleigh. Haven't been disappointed yet.http://www.historicoakwood.org/candl...elighttour.php
