I'm going to take the wife and kids there soon. I'll report back.

I am not so sure it's worth the trip. I waited on tables there when I was in school. Back then, the food was excellent - all scratch. I went last year for the first time in many years and it was awful. The food wasn't the same. It didn't taste like scratch made and was no better than frozen TV dinner quality. We barely touched our food and left very disappointed. Service wasn't much better.

Not really Italian but they make a great steak sandwich at Amedeo's.

I go a couple of times a year for the nostalgia factor. It's an NC State institution. Not the best food in Raleigh by any means, but not terrible either.
