If your grout is just dirty, you can easily clean it with steam. Harbor Freight has a little steam machine for $100 with coupon. Amazon sells the same unit for $139.
Clorox Bleach Pen + Toothbrush + Handheld Steamer + time/patience = looks like new. Just did my master shower. Followed with replacement of sanded caulk between walls and floor (all tile).
Trick to preparing the area to be caulked-
Get yourself some "cotton cord". It's like a strip of cotton balls that can be cut/torn to length. They use it in hair salons for perms and color. I bought 40 feet on Amazon for $4.
Put on gloves. Take an aluminum pie plate or similar and pour bleach into it. Dip the lengths of cord in the bleach and tuck them against the old caulk and seam. Leave it for an hour or so. Pull them up and throw them out. All mold gone and old caulk softened. Scrape/dig out the remains of caulk and wipe the area with rubbing alcohol. Let dry THOROUGHLY. Recaulk. You can buy "sanded caulk" in colors to match your grout at Home Depot.
I already had the steamer. The rest of the materials cost less than $20 total. Took a couple of hours total (broken up). I will not pay anyone $500 for that.
MLHM5 I can't find the 25% off coupon only a 20%. Am I missing something?
Thanks!
