I know I should call Frontier tech support and I will. I just want to know if anyone out there has successfully gotten a Vizio Smart TV (M50-C1) working with Frontier DSL and Netgear 7550 router? I can get a network connection both wired and wireless. But the TV never "registers" itself with Vizio (according to their tech support) and so the applications on the TV don't work.

Did you try restarting your modem and router?

Yes I did try that but that did not help. I did find the problem this evening. The TV has to register itself with some Vizio system somewhere before the built in applications will work. I had to turn off the firewall in my internet router, then the TV was able to register itself. I turned the firewall back on and the apps were still working. I plan to call Vizio tomorrow to let them know what I found out.

Problem solved.

We had Frontier and have a Vizio Smart TV. We had the same issue and Vizio ended up sending us a new TV. We no longer have Frontier.

Oddly enough I'm having the same problem on my daughters Vizio tv. Don't have frontier but TWC internet service and the probkem appears to be with the router. All my other devices work fine on WiFi but the tv says connected but won't download the information. Changing routers thus weekend. Fingers crossed.

Have you tried to temporarily disable your router's firewall, like I did.
