Yeah, I should probably search the forum, but I'm exhausted from moving house.
AT&T were supposed to get our service switched on today, but after spending all day waiting on two separate techs (why 2?) we were told around 5:30pm by the 2nd tech that there's something damaged outside and they'll be hooking us up NEXT WEEK.
We already had them out over a week ago to allegedly fix whatever issue was wrong outside.
Anyone else having issues getting set up with this service?
We're almost wishing we'd just transferred our TWC service and just waited for Google Fiber.

We had friends that were on DSL with att and something went wrong in the neighborhood and it was going to be two weeks before they would be able to fix it. She worked from home so that was not going to work. They then we're going to get Uverse hooked up because the rep said it was still operational. After a couple days, it was clear the rep lied so th went to Time Warner.
ATT is a shell of what it once was. I think the people running it in the 70s and 80s would drop dead from shock or roll over in their graves that they would let a customer go without service for two days without getting it fixed much less quote two weeks.
We're going through the exact same thing. Moving, currently have TWC, don't know if we should switch to ATT or just transfer the TWC and wait for Google Fiber.
Our install with TWC was a 2 week ordeal - trying to prevent that at the new house.

If it's a resale, you probably won't have problems. If it's new construction, be prepared.

TWC has a proven external cable plant with folks that have been working on it for years and years.
ATT has an aging copper plant that they don't want to maintain/fix or an unproven fiber plant that is unfamiliar to the techs. My inlaws spent almost 11 months trying to get centurylink to upgrade then from DSL to fiber and they said they were unable to get the cable under the road and finally gave up.

What is unproven about AT&T fiber? I remember touring one of their manufacturing plants in the late '70s and seeing a demonstration of how to splice fiber (which was new at that time), so they literally have decades of experience with it.
I have seen my share of unqualified techs with the cable guys as well, so neither has a monopoly on that.
