I'm looking for suggestions (not ready for a real estate agent yet) on where to find Townhouse/Condo communities close to a university (prefer NCSU) or close to a busline that is not a student housing complex. Looking specifically for a 3bd with a first floor master (for person with limited mobility), under 200K. I've seen all the developments off of Tryon Rd. but not sure what other areas of Raleigh are within student commuter distance to NCSU.
I had buyers purchase in Powell Townes. They had 3 kids that all went to NCSU. Youngest is still there.
We did lots of searching to find a neighborhood that was close enough to State but not filled with rentals full of younger students. Easy to tell if you go on a Sunday. The amount of beer cans tell you lots!
There are a few neighborhoods near Lake Johnson that have bus service but not the NC-state wofline, they have cat bus access instead.
There is one called Lakeview which is before the bridge (heading on Avent Ferry from the food-lion towards Tryon road) over Lake Johnson, this is a recent listing from that neighborhood (am in now way associated with it, except that we considered renting/buying there at some point) : https://www.redfin.com/NC/Raleigh/10.../home/41187762
When we looked at it the neighborhood was very nice with very few students, mostly families (high HOA though, but perhaps that is par-for-course in townhome communities) and quite close to NC-state, bus stop was close by. Homes seemed to sell/rent quickly here.
There is also another one the other side of the bridge called Meadowview, recent listing : https://www.redfin.com/NC/Raleigh/46.../home/41256377. Homes are perhaps nicer, definitely more recent but somehow did not seem to move quickly for some reason (this was 2 years ago, not sure how its changed). The last neighborhood we looked at was one of the town-home communities in/near "Trailwood Hills" (think that is what it was called), cat bus access only I think. Had a larger mix of students than the other two communities.

Good info, but a few quick notes: CAT is now called GoRaleigh (just in case the OP went searching for info and was confused). Also, as NCSU students, they are eligible for a GoPass which will allow them to ride all of the area buses for "free", so having service that's not Wolfline might not be an issue.

Since you say you have looked at the ones off of Tryon, I take it they did not meet your needs?
Battle Ridge North is still in the new construction phase but you would have to decide if that would be too far for you.

Thanks for the correction, I didn't know about the name changes
The GoPass is useful the only problem we used to have was that the CAT/GoRaleigh just wasn't as frequent and not quite as reliable, would be great if thats changed as well!
