Saw that this morning and downloaded the app. Ordered up about 10 items to get my bill over $20 so I could use the $10 off first-time buyer coupon. Chose the free 2-hour delivery (instead of $7.99 for under an hour).... and my order showed up in less than 50 minutes anyway! Pretty cool, worked like a charm.
I used it today as well. Ordered at Noon, order was delivered about 30 minutes ago (3:00). It looks like PrimeNow is its own special app for Android, iphone, and Amazon devices, but I was surprised at the number of items that are available to be delivered. I'm sure this will expand in the weeks and months to come.
On the app, you can even see where your driver is with your package once it ships!
Hmmm....I wonder if they are too busy today? I just tried to order and the 6-8 and 8-10 time slots were unavailable. I could have it delivered tomorrow morning, however. The whole point of it for me right now is the novelty of getting the stuff in two hours. Fun activity on a dreary Thursday. Hopefully it will remember my cart and I'll just order it tomorrow.
The drivers are independent contractors and tipping is optional. When you check out a "suggested tip" is added to your order which you can zero out. According to the FAQ: "No, tipping is completely optional and can be changed up to 48 hours after delivery in the Prime Now app. Your entire tip goes to your courier, but information about your tip, such as the amount or who has issued it, isn't shared."

Actually, in Durham, it covers the following zip codes: 27701, 27707, 27713
Yep! The headline Raleigh is misleading because a lot of Durham is included, very glad my house is.
