Any way to catch the game at the DSC without shelling out $400-$500 for 2 tickets? How much have people paid to watch the game in Chapel Hill? TIA

What's the DSC? I'm guessing you are talking about Duke Men's Basketball, which is the only thing at Duke I can think of that would cost that much per ticket. They play at Cameron Indoor Stadium though. I've thought it might be cool to catch a game there sometime too, and even looked at tickets for some really weak opponents during the Christmas break time, and they still cost around $300 then.

The Dean Dome is bigger, and you can definitely get cheaper seats to games against weak opponents (which I've done), but I would think the Duke game would cost a lot still. It looks like StubHub has some nosebleed seats, in the upper corner, for the Duke game starting at $260.

It's just the Smith Center, not the DSC. I've never heard that one before and thought you were talking about somewhere in Durham. You can say Dean Dome if you must. (J-mart, took me a minute, too, but I think DSC=Dean Smith Center. No one EVER says DSC.)

Probably about right on the price — $200 a piece sounds ballpark to me, but it's been years since I've been. I think we paid $150 the last time and that was pre-kids.

Ohhh, thanks poppydog! I've never heard the Dean Dome referred to as anything else, interesting.

Well Way Back In The Dark Ages when I was in school at UNC and the Smith Center was built it was the Student Activities Center because Coach didn't want them to name it after him. He relented after a few years. Most folks just call it the Smith Center. He hated it being called the Dean Dome, but that's pretty common, too.

The actual name is the Dean E. Smith Center but no one calls it that. Its either the Smith Center or the Dean Dome.

ETA if you want to talk about the coliseum at Duke, the name is Cameron Indoor Stadium. No one abreviates it CIS. The shortened form would just be to call it Cameron, i.e. Going to see Duke play at Cameron.

The least expensive tickets on Stubhub are $240 each and only a few of those. I'm a little surprised it didn't go down a bit since Duke had their little drop and UNC just lost.

Tickets at Duke are probably going to be three or four times that if the past is any indication.

My tickets cost $0 the two years I got them in the lottery as a UNC student; but you're a few weeks too late for ticket prices under the budget you've listed. They were going for $200-300 a couple weeks ago and when ticket sales first went live for the season you probably could have gotten nosebleads for under $100 and decent upper-level seats for under $200.

People definitely call it "The Dean E Smith Center" at times; just not abbreviated "DSC".

It will always be the Dean Dome colloquially and in most major sports broadcasts.

Also was very disappointed this year that they took Dean Smith out of the "I'm A Tarheel" hype video. Too soon. I feel like his section should have been archived.

I saw my very first Duke-Carolina game in Woolen Gym...'58 or '59. It was very difficult to get a ticket even back then. I remember ticket scalpers outside before the game wearing long wool coats and fedoras
