Question - didn't the population boom of Cary occur due to RTP? One of the big draws of 27519 is convenience to RTP, so why is it the most recently developed?
Utilities, infrastructure such as roads and schools, and amenities such as shopping probably played a very big role. That said Cary Park is within the bounds of West Cary, and it started construction in the late 90s (You can see the initial grading underway on Google Earth historical images from April 1998) - but, talking to people who lived there early in the neighborhood's construction, it felt VERY remote at the time.
...However, some West Cary purists might wish to disown Cary Park if they could, since it's not SPARKLING new (18 years - YICK!), every house didn't come pre-installed with granite, and there may still be a few brass doorknobs hanging around. Perhaps they would hold that it is IN 27519 but not OF 27519.
All I know is I'm to start insisting that my area, between Davis and 55, start being referred to Olde (with an "e") West Cary. And since I am in Mike J's holy trinity of schools, I expect a bow when it's said, as well.

I think development is enabled when landowners decide it is time to cash out to developers.

27519 is convenient to many possible employers (RTP, decent commute to Duke, downtown Durham), has great schools, trails nearby, new construction housing, Southpoint at 10 minutes and LA FARM at 10 minutes. That's all I would need in my wish list . Other people may have different wish lists and that's okay. It is interesting how much beating 27519 is getting these days...

That describes my Cary Park house. Brass doorknobs, brass trim on the plumbing fixtures, oh and a brass framed glass shower in the master bath. [Prior owner replaced the perfectly good Corian for granite a couple of months before we closed on it]. I'm waiting for brass to come back in fashion before I sell....

So, you plan to live there another 30 years?
