I know of someone I can recommend for both projects. PM if you want info as I'm not sure they're comfortable with their name out in public.

Search Craigslist in the services section. I have used that for several projects at my new house and have been very happy with the cost and work I got done. If you call a big company chances are you are paying for their advertising and retail space.

And their insurance. I like knowing the company has worker's comp in case an employed saws off a finger. I am one of those people who requests a certificate of insurance be sent to me.

Craigslist is used by a lot of small companies that are fully insured. The people I hired were insured and was verified by me. I also have great homeowners insurance with an umbrella policy just in case If people enjoy paying more that's cool with me. I would rather save some money and get the same exact work done.

Your umbrella policy doesn't cover workers in your home. Do you think insurers are stupid? They don't want to pay for your mistake if you become an employer by hiring an uninsured person.
