As of two days ago, The signage still says "available." And I'm still rooting for a real, sit down Chinese restaurant.

By real do you mean American-style Chinese or authentic Chinese? And if authentic which regional cuisine? Szechuan? Cantonese?

Any of the above - as long as they are GOOD.

The only Chinese we have here in Brier Creek are two mediocre, American style take out places. Which amazes me since we have two Indian, three Japanese, one supposedly thai place that serves all Asian (badly), one pseudo vietnamese fast casual, and one fusion cutesy Asian fast casual. NONE of them are bad choices, but none of them are sit down Chinese restaurants, either.

Doubt a Chinese restaurant gets put there. The whole fast casual thing is stagnant although PF Changs would do well there (authentic? lol) but the location would maybe be too close to the one at Crabtree. If it must stay fast casual .... I do think Olive Garden or Red Lobster would actually succeed in that spot.

Just glanced at the latest Triangle Food Blog update:

They say that the Panera on the other side of 70 is moving into the old Johnny Carino's spot and adding a drive-thru.

But that will be just in time for the O'Charley's next to the old Carino's to shut down by July 1st.

Oh wow, that Paneras should do a good business over there, especially during the mornings

Now we need a thread about what is replacing O"Charleys. Unless we have one already.

Yep. I was the one who alerted Sean and his blog to the news about Panera and O'Charleys.

Now that I've lost the possibility with Carino's, I'm still fervently hoping that O'Charley's (or the next restaurant that will inevitable go under over there) becomes a sit down Chinese restaurant. Even if it has average food, it will be better than the two take outs that we have in the area.
