The wife and my daughter get lunch at McDonalds and then get gas at the Han-Dee Hugo (Kildaire Farm & Maynard). SIX HOURS later Daughter remembers that she'd put her $500 retainers in the McDonalds bag that Wife had thrown away at the gas station!!! Wife calls the station in a panic, tries to explain the situation to the non-native English speaker who doesn't seem to understand. I grab a pair of gloves and we drive up there. Wife pops into the station to warn the clerk that we're about to go dumpster-diving, and he hands her the retainers!!! :-) So this gas station clerk named "Conteh" from Gambia had taken it upon himself to go search for the retainers for us based on just a phone call. I am beyond astonished and delighted.

That's a lovely story! I'm glad your daughter's retainers were recovered.

Yes, this. Write to the corporate office so his manager knows what he did.

It is somewhat sad that we live in a time and place where a simple good deed brings so much praise.

I think most would agree that what the attendant did goes WELL BEYOND what most would consider a "simple good deed".
