Can any recommend a good divorce attorney in the RDU area. Trying to decide between a divorce attorney or using a mediator. I hoping to at least meet with a attorney, figure out my options, risk etc. Anyone with previous experience either good or bad with someone would be greatly appreciated.

Good - Jill Jackson at Tharrington Smith (or anyone in Family Law at TS)

Bad - The Rosen Law Firm. Stay away. Far away.

Indded Tharrington Smith is good. I used Gailor Hunt Jenkins Davis & Taylor -- very happy. Schedule an initial consult and find out what your options are.

If money is no object, then Tharrington Smith is the way to go. At $500+ for an initial consult, you can only imagine how much the entire process will cost.

Rosen Law Firm has a message board to answer basic legal questions.

The DSSG Meetup has a message board for non-legal advice.

If your situation isn't too complicated, you could try Art Lieberman for mediation. I think his initial consultation is free or at least reasonable.

If you are religious at all, the Methodist church in FV runs a Divorce Care program every Monday night. Not a bad place to start.
