My son plays lacrosse. He is in 7th grade now (age 12) and currently plays in the state we are moving from. Does anyone have any experience with the youth lacrosse programs in the Cary or surrounding area for this age group? We would like to get him into a fall league to help him make some friends. Just trying to research who has a good program. Are their rec. leagues? Club / travel teams? Recommended camps or clinics? Any information would be great. I think we will miss tryouts for any of the summer leagues but if anyone knows of a summer program or clinics that would be interesting, please chime in.

Thanks!

North Carolina Lacrosse Academy > Home

Red Devil United Lacrosse | Competitive Travel/Club Lax | North Carolina - powered by Oasys Sports

I feel sure that is not a complete list but it can be a start.

You are welcome. My neighbor's twin HS boys play as well. I can ask where they play when next I see them.

There are several rec programs and Select/Travel based programs in the Cary area. My son has played for a number of rec and travel programs in the area.

For Rec/travel programs I'd highly recommend Goblins Lacrosse (Fuquay Varina), Red Devil United (Apex) and Cary Academy. Bucktown Lacrosse which feeds into Cardinal Gibbons, is also a very good travel only program. What schools are you considering for your move? The top HS programs around Cary are Apex HS, Middle Creek HS (Cary) and Cardinal Gibbons (private Catholic, Raleigh). You may want to consider a rec/travel program that feeds into your son's future HS.

Thank you so much! Great information!! He will be going to Apex hs so maybe looking at the Red Devil's may be in our best interest. He plays rec up here - balancing other sports as well - but he has really expressed more of an interest in it and seems to be keeping up with the kids who play travel and rec. He will be playing up this year - U15. Hoping to find him something for the fall (clinic / camp) to keep his skills up while we wait for the next tryouts for the next season.

John Hayden the coach at Apex HS runs a summer camp. You can google Apex High School Summer Lacrosse Camp for more info. There will be a lot of kids there that feed into the program.

NC Lax Academy will probably have a fall league where they try to put kids from the same middle schools on the same team. Check their website for information.

Follow @RDULax on twitter for sign up dates and information on Red Devil. You could also email Scott Olive directly for some guidance. His email is listed on the twitter feed.
