Has anyone done a trip from the Raleigh Area to Cocoa Beach Florida? We are thinking maybe Sept when our kids track out. What hotel on the beach would you recommend? What did you do while you were there? Is the drive ok? Any info would be great. Also negatives welcome.

there are alot of nice hotels on A1A right on the beach. You can find alot of hotels that are walking distance to the beach a few streets. Have you gone to this website Cocoa Beach, Florida, Family Vacation Guide, CocoaBeach.Com, cocoa beach hotels, restaurants, shuttle launches and more! it will tell you all about cocoa beach.

I think it might be a members only type of place but you can try anyhow, cape caribe is pretty much the best they have to offer.

Ron JonĀ®* Cape Caribe Resort - One of a Kind Resort - Florida Space Coast Vacation (broken link)

I grew up on the space coast and for the most part it's pretty rundown. If your main interest is the beach i would recommend going elsewhere. If you want to catch a rocket or shuttle launch i would say it's worth it at least once.

If you don't hit too much traffic and only stop for gas and a quick bite to eat you can make it in 8:30 hours. But with kids, it may take a bit longer.

Sorry for the negative tone, but i REALLY did not like it down there.
