There was a downtown arena in the vision plan that the town council put out late last year. It's of course just an idea and has no backing yet, but it seems like they have at least though about it.
The Hurricanes are not going anywhere unless the team and the National Hockey League say something differently.
They don't have to say a word, and will not announce that "this is the last season, enjoy them while you have them". It will happen overnight, during the offseason, and that's when you'll officially hear about it. Telling Canes fans that this is the last season won't help their cause.
Yes, attendence has been poor at best. But so has the on ice product. They go hand in hand.
Is this idea for an indoor arena or an outdoor stadium?
It was an indoor arena but smaller than Hockey Sized IIRC and just a general idea long term as a placeholder I'm pretty sure someone just bought the land it would be on so that's probably not happening anyway.
If the Canes move, maybe Raleigh could get a minor league team (to still use PNC). Used to love going to the Inferno games in Columbia. I think a minor league team would do well here. Not sure if investors, NHL officials would be head over heels about coming back to Raleigh after seeing how the Canes have been floundering.
I still would like a pro team in Raleigh. It's not gonna be football or basketball, but Raleigh should have a pro team.
Congrats to the Canes for bringing the state its only championship in professional team sports.

Do you know of any properties?

Yea, I think if another pro team comes it will be MLS or MLB. Don't see any other sport putting one here.
Oh good grief. Anything posted on hockeyfeed is not exactly credible. The canes are not moving. Least of which is this year.
