I love all of the nice modern movie theaters in the area, but the ticket prices are killing my budget! Are there any theaters in the Triangle area that show movies at the end of their release period for discounted prices? I'm looking for places that have shows with ticket prices between $2-$5. I don't care if the reduced price is only for early matinees or some kind of Monday night "date night" special. I use to go to a place in Richmond Virginia called the Byrd Theater and they still only charge $1.99!
I would second raleighwood, first run shows, and you can order your food before the show.........they recommend you arrive 30 minutes before hand so that you can get your food orders in, etc.
Also, every year they have sold out "shows" for the superbowl and other big basketball games. I think it would be fun to go there and watch the games on the big screen! It is free admission on those days.........plus you can order beer there for the games or movies!
Be careful in Carmike Blue Ridge. My car's driver side window was broken when there. There was nothing inside the car to tempt anyone but it was during the last show of the night (9-12). The police said that there were 3 such break-ins that night and its a common occurrence there. In fact, they said they regularly patrol the area and were called away for an emergency when this happened.
Anyways, be careful if you do decide to go there and park in a well lighted spot.
Blue Ridge is a rat hole and draws in a low class clientèle that is typically loud and disrespectful during the show. Additionally, it is very sad to see the number of people who bring young children to rated R movies and expose them to very adult content. And on more than one occasion you see people hanging out in the parking lots. Don't go there unless you must.
Check with your credit union or employer for discount tickets - we can buy $5 passes to Carmike and Consolidated Theaters. You usually can't go opening weekend, but it's a nice way to shave $2-3 off the usual rate. Seems like there might have been some in the citipass or entertainment book, too.
