I was about a foot or so away and zoomed in a bit with my iphone cam. This guy was about 6 to 8 inches and chunky. My wife saw a thinner one a couple weeks ago that was closer to a foot long.

Though I have noticed that they all seem pretty well fed this year. I saw one outside a few minutes ago and commented to my coworker that he was pretty chunky.

Looks like a broad headed skink which can grow to 12". I've caught several and none have tried to bite me. Some sources online says it can hurt but I don't think a 6" lizard can do much damage. Maybe the bigger ones can draw blood. However they do not like humans so they typically run for cover. They are great to have around your home.

The lizard in the far left photo looks like he has an attitude!

For real! Take that attitude right off our porch, mister, and come back when you have a smile on your face!

My dog has murdered two skinks in the past week. She was especially gleeful about it today. Poor skink.
