What's the consent form and why do people avoid it?
I'm in NY on State Farm. I had somewhat limited options when we bought our home because of the recent (last 10 years) move of insurers to not write policies on Long Island. Since we have an umbrella, home, and now two cars, I like the discounts but to be honest, I haven't shopped around in a long time. I figured after the major storms we had, my options might be even more limited now even though I've (thankfully) not had to make a claim in the 9 years we've been with them.
Since rental insurance is required for most places down there I'll probably find out from them first what the cost of that policy would be before I shop around once we move.
Amica doesn't have local agents...I did everything online/email/phone. They have a regional office on Falls of Neuse to service this area, but I honestly don't know if you can walk in there and talk to an agent.
I have a ton of properties, all with Erie. I can promise you that you will not find a better provider with lower rates, Amica included. Do a price comparison and you will see.

I have heard good things about Erie as well - Amica won't have the lowest rates (from the few times I've researched and gotten new rates) but their customer service has been real good every time I've needed something from an auto accident (whether I was at fault or not)
If you combine car with home insurance, the rate is cheaper. Liberty Mutual is pretty cheap and I had both USAA and Progressive before.
