I don't think anyone thinks they are "better" because they use XM or what have you. That's a bit silly, don't you think?

Besides, reception issues can affect people using satellite radio, too.

Congrats, you ruined it.

I agree with RZ, I highly doubt anyone thinks they're better for using satellite. I mean I use a combination of satellite, Spotify, Google Play, and terrestrial radio -- I certainly don't care. The reason why is I like to listen to a lot of Electronic radio and I travel a lot. There's no way I could keep up with that scene otherwise in this area. There's just not a station for it.

I also have a lot of music dumped in the Amazon and Google clouds which is fun to stream to my car radio.

Guess I'm a terrible person now.

I play the Talk Stream Live app and iHeart radio while in car and BT connect it to car radio.

Data usage is very low, and I use a Republic Wireless phone.

Via this, I'd guess (not the rototiller):

I'm surprised that's doable on an AM tower.

The rototiller is an FM translator for 850, I think.

The atmosphere in the summertime lends to skip and ducting, which bring in stations from afar strongly enough to wipe out local stations. A couple weeks ago we were driving to the beach and listening to Jammin 99.9 out of Wilmington when suddenly it turned to country. I looked up the call letters and it was a station out of Arkansas.

102.9 is in the middle of the Triangle but is capped at 6,000 watts. Most of the big guys, with a few exceptions, are 100,000 watts and shoot in from towers to the east or southeast of Raleigh. 93.9 and 105.1 are on a tower in Apex. 91.5 WUNC is out in Chatham County just south of Chapel Hill.

Yeah... before the days of satellite radio and streaming audio, I always kept a huge collection of music in the car because the radio was never enough. Be they mix tapes or full albums, I had plenty to keep me happy.

Same. CDs everywhere. Under the seat, behind the visor, in the console, ev-er-y-where. Hehe.
