For all of you that are thinking of moving to the Raleigh area, Google has created a mapping system that lets you view just about every street and neighborhood (360 degree photos). For some reason Raleigh, and some of Durham, Orange and Chatham are the only places you can do this in NC. Here is how to do it:

Go to Google Maps. Then click onto the map of Raleigh (only choice for NC). Click on the ‘street view’ tab and every street you see outlined in blue has 360 degree photos taken along that street. Click anywhere on a street and the results are both amazing and a little scary. You can click on the arrows (up and down) and view neighborhoods and streets.

I did my house and saw my cars in the drive way. They have the tags blurred out so that is good. I also drove downtown just sitting here at my computer. I was shocked that this technology is available to the general public. I guess it has its advantages and disadvantages.

Enjoy!

Instead of typing in "Raleigh, NC", type in your address and then go to "street view" and you should see your house!

Question Google maps not showing NC-540

NC-540, section of I-540 connecting I-40 with Rt-55 in western wake county is not showing up on Google maps or any Google map related applications. Why? It has been there for a while. Anybody know anything about this mystery.

Thanks..

Default zillow has that feature as well

zillow.com offers a similiar feature as well...I put my address in and it's vacant land...so I am not sure when it's updated...we all know the "zestimates" are not that accurate, but at least you can view the property or see what the neighborhood looks like ..but I am with you...it's good and bad...happy surfing
