Thank you, Sachivalay. I am definitely planning on calling Liberty Mutual. This gives me some hope. Do you recall if your rate included bundling homeowners with auto?
Yes. we have home/auto bundled together to get the discounts on Auto.
Sorry...I don't understand your reply. Maybe I didn't phrase my questions correctly. I am looking to potentially move from Erie to a new company for coverage to include all three of us. I'm looking for recommendations such as State Farm, Met Life, Liberty Mutual etc. My agent is going to shop my policy around, but only works with certain carriers. The agent did say that Erie was not as "rate friendly" for new drivers.
I use NC Farm Bureau for insurance. Great agent and the staff has always been helpful.
I could be very wrong about this, but I always thought that USAA members enjoyed lower rates than the general population. I am fine with this perk for those with military service, just saying it factors into the comparison.
That's true. I'm the daughter of a vet. But USAA is a big corp, and I think much of their success is due to being well run.
When I lived in NY< I had State Farm because USAA couldn't beat their rate. When I moved to NC, that flip flopped.

I would also add that USAA's rates seem to have increased in recent years, at least homeowners has. USAA's claim to fame was offering superior service compared to other companies when you needed to submit a claim.
USAA went downhill when they went from an officers only insurance to letting everyone in. Over time this has really increased their claims paid out and is why you are seeing rate increases. I remember back in 2006-2007 time frame (not THAT long ago!) I was paying $15/month for car insurance! They used to be crazy cheap. I noticed big increases starting in 2012-ish. Our homeowners went from $350/yr to $650/yr, not even sure what it is now. NCFB was cheaper by $50 on our bundle last year when rate shopping.
