Sounds like reason prevailed.

Although a lot of technophiles may be willing to pay for Google's product, many, like me, will not think the cost makes sense.

Putting in that much infrastructure would then be a lousy investment.

If you don't want that particular Google product, don't buy it!

I guess we just can't have nice things........ at least the ones CapitalBlvd isn't going to use.

Interesting assessment of hubris at Google Fiber: Op-ed: Salvaging Google Fiber

"Google believed it could revolutionize the laying of fiber. It didn’t just think it could offer a kickass service; it thought it could deploy much cheaper and much faster than anybody else had ever done. That’s fully in line with the Google mindset, but unfortunately it ignores the fact that hundreds of companies had been deploying wireline access infrastructure for years by the time Google Fiber decided to give it a go. I’d suggest we’re now seeing the fallout from that misguided assumption: Google is finally admitting (in a roundabout way) that despite all the clever people it has on hand, the company hasn't revolutionized fiber deployment. It still takes time to do the planning properly, to work with local authorities effectively, to do the outside plant layout efficiently. Did Google manage to do things cheaper than others did? Probably, but not by a wide margin."

Not only me, but many other folks just can't justify spending Google's rates for Internet service.

Might be great but not everyone can buy a Beemer on a Chevy budget.

We're not all well paid transplants.
