And the numbers using the Money site "Compare Your Town" function support this. If we look at Median Home Price/Median Income. I was always taught you can afford a home price about 3x your family income.

Kenmore = 515/99
Bellevue 695/108
Portland and Suburbs: (in thousands of $)
Portland = 349/67
Beaverton = 319/70
Sherwood = 350/91
Raleigh and Suburbs: (in thousands of $)

Apex = 300/102
The Portland area is certainly stretching for most but Seattle is approaching another stratosphere..unless you are Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos or one of their top-flight programmers.
