Don't see a thread about this. Went to Sweet Tomatoes today and noticed the Best Buy was gone. It didn't last very long did it? I guess it was not a profitable location.

Didn't it just move a mile or so north on Capital? In front of Triangle Town Center, right next to HH Gregg and Havertys? Heck, I just checked Google maps and it's already showing on their streetview from June. https://www.google.com/maps/@35.8696...7i13312!8i6656

Is that where the old K-Mart building was ?? SO glad that piece of junk was finally torn down. That place was an eyesore inside and out for 30 + years

They moved to where the old K-Mart was with a new Hobby Lobby next door a few miles north of Sweet Tomatoes.

I like the new location from a parking lot perspective but the previous one had a nicer feel to it. Hopefully with the KMart torn down the area will start to improve.

I really don't get why that had to move that store now twice within the last 3 years. Seems like a gigantic waste of money to me.

This company must have broken more leases than people in my previous apartment community.

Remember, it wasn't that long when Best Buy moved from the other side of Capital to the abandoned furniture store by Sweet Tomatoes. Gander Mountain now has this spot.

They had to move this time because they were gaining a Pacific Sales store (Major appliances, including luxury brands) inside that Best Buy location and the other store was smallish. It's also easier for them to build one of those inside an empty building.

When they built the Pac Sales store over in the Cary location, appliances was a construction site for a good while.

Companies that move like that tend to keep the leased property and sublease it back out, that way they can control who goes in there and make sure it's not a competitor, so they aren't really breaking the lease. In the case of where Gander Mountain is now, their lease was up and they decided not to renew.
