Very sad news about Arnold Palmer's death last evening. I'm originally from Western Pa, and am quite familiar with Mr. Palmer's history and legacy. But, in reading some of the stories this morning though, I'm curious and have a couple of questions that are local to this area.
1) I assume that when Palmer attended Wake Forest, it was still located in its original location, and had not yet moved to Winston-Salem, correct?
2) Palmer's good friend in college, Bud Worsham, died in a tragic automobile accident coming back from a social event in Durham one weekend evening when they were both in college. I realize it was a long, long time ago, but would anyone know where this accident took place?
3) On which courses would Wake Forest have practiced/played their matches locally, back then?
Wake Forest University relocated to Winston-Salem in 1956. The former campus in Wake Forest is Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. It appears much of the campus is intact along Stadium Drive, North Avenue, Front Street, South Avenue, and Wingate Street. I think the football stadium remains in use by Wake Forest High School.

Sorry, I was referring to golf in my question. Any idea on which courses Wake Forest would have played/practiced back then? And are those courses still around?
I found this newspaper article about Bud Worshams car accident. It references the Durham Road. I would guess it happened somewhere along Highway 98 ( a narrow bridge over a rocky creek). The road has been realigned over the years, so it is difficult to guess. https://news.google.com/newspapers?n...,4099814&hl=en

I found that same article. Back in 1950, the highway that is now NC 98 was numbered as NC 264, but I haven't been able to locate anything else that might pinpoint the location.
Thanks much Jules_NC and lb27608 ! I figured it had to be Rte 98 or some predecessor to it. I'm also guessing that this road likely took a slightly different path back then too, well prior to Falls Lake being conceived and filled.
They would have played Paschal most often, though there's a plaque at Raleigh CC (near Wake Med) that mentions he often played there in the early days of the course. They would have also played at Hope Valley in Durham, because I know Mike Souchak ( a contemporary) played there a lot while at Duke. Carolina CC would have been around, but I'm not sure how much they'd have allowed the college golfers to play.
