They said that they would make a final decision by tonight. "If the island gets evacuated...we will issue you a refund".
Basically....we're probably going to have a rainy beach weekend...even if the eye of the storm stays 100 miles off shore there's still going to be rain/storms on the coast over the weekend.
Yeah, kinda the same for us.
If the home owner/agency calls it off for some reason, we get a refund. If we cancel, no refund.
We STILL haven't 100% decided on what to do, but today is looking more promising than yesterday though we're going to wait till tomorrow morning/early afternoon to call it for sure.
What I'm still concerned about is how much Matthew has decreased speed recently. While the decrease in strength is good, the slow down in speed means that if we do go it'll be much rainier for longer which sucks.

Has it? The latest update showed it moving 12 mph. That's as fast as I've seen it move, but I haven't seen every update. Last night it was moving at 9 mph, I think.
FYI (posted this morning): "The Duke Marine Lab will be CLOSED on Friday, October 7, 2016. The Duke Marine Lab will EVACUATE at 12:00PM on Friday, October 7, 2016."
This is Beaufort/Morehead City/Cape Lookout/Emerald Isle area.

It appeared to me that it had, as some time this week Matthew was predicted to be all the way to NY by Sunday...could be wrong though...

The place we rented is up in Nags Head and most of the models have Matthew staying well south of there even if it does hit NC so chances are we are going. It probably won't be the best beach weather ever but if I can't get the money back we're going for sure.
I went to target yesterday when the track looked like we might get more of an impact here and stocked up on wine, beer, mixers, flashlights and batteries. And milk and snacks for the child. I figured if we're going to be stuck inside all weekend may as well have a few drinks with some neighbors while the children play...
That said now it looks like it could be a non-event so we may be drinking on our deck instead!
