Wonderful! North Hills (the old crackerbox mall, not the fancy Boutique-y place it is now) had just been built, and Crabtree (which would later be at the "70 exit" advertised by the sign) was still nothing but a pasture (and a flood plain--terrific place to build the biggest mall between DC and Atlanta, eh? They learned...)

Did anyone mention Cherie Berry? First thing I noticed in an elevator when I moved here to NC. That's my least favorite type of a politician, the one that puts her/his picture on everything. It was so out of ordinary for me to see in the USA, I really had to google her. And, I did read that it was pretty out of ordinary and like lots of people know about her because of her little self marketing. Not something that tells you are from Raleigh -- but definitely if you know Cherie Berry, that's definitely something that shows you are from NC, I think.
Fun fact, apparently, her last name and first name do not rhyme. When I found that out, I was like well poop... this isn't even mildly entertaining anymore.
The 1990s seems to recent to have already been forgotten.
I remember that farmer's market well.

And when the elevator is stuck between floors ....all you do is stare at her name.
...if you remember when the seats are Reynolds' Coliseum were painted dark green, not red.
