Yeah that wasn't a suggestion to you but a response to someone who suggested picnic as you stated in the first message that the event was sold out.

You might want to try the newer Picnic out in Durham, JKGourmet! Not traditional but they do whole-hog, excellent fried chicken and good sides. A bit hipster but over the top and open on Sunday for lunch...

Okay, I'm confused. The link provided earlier in this thread https://www.parkersbbq.com/locations.asp only shows two locations in Greenville. None in Parker. ?????????

I'm sorry. By "both" I meant there's a Parker's Barbecue in Wilson and another Parker's Barbecue in Greenville.

We ended up going to Pik n Pig. Lovely drive, and we were able to go a different way on the way home to show our guests Chapel Hill. The airport was a kick, and we sat outside in this incredibly great weather.

They were out of brisket when we arrived, so we all had the pork. The beans and cole slaw were a big hit. One of our party thought the pork was a bit dry, but the bbq sauce fixed that pretty well - I will add that they have never gotten unsauced bbq before, so they were just surprised by the whole thing. I though the pork was excellent and loved the spicy, vinegar based sauce. Service was very slow, which was fine on this occasion, but on another day would have been annoying. The atmosphere and the 'look' of the restaurant was spot on.

Four sodas, four regular size plates of pork with 2 sides each were roughly $45 plus tax. Cash only.

Thanks so much for the great suggestions!

I love brisket, don't get me wrong, but this is NC...if you're showing guests NC BBQ, it's got to be pork!!!

This was a great thread, sounds like I have to take a drive out there, sounds worth it!

Honestly, having been out there I was a little disappointed. I'll take Hillsborough, The Pig, or The Pit over it.
