70 for 1 gig vs 100 for 300 mbps. It is cheaper.

It is cheaper unless you have some kind of new customer discount from spectrum or other tv provider. But not as much as some expected. The service is better, and I don't mind paying extra for that. But I'm not.

Before: $64 for 100 mbps that NEVER got above 50 mbps. I owned the modem and router. Direct tv with basic plus one level plus Showtime programming, one DVR for $91 (negotiated about $10 off).

After: $50 for 100 mbps that ALWAYS works at that speed (a bit lower with tablets and phones). $70 for google fiber's basic plan which includes all our prior channels plus more and Showtime.

We were entirely happy with DirectTV, but the Google DVR is MORE advanced. We find the software less intuitive, but maybe it's just because it's different. I admit that it was a PITA to set up the Wi-Fi printer and I had to buy a $20 Wi-Fi adapter for a 5 year old laptop. The Google phone and chat techs were very good. My sonos system still isn't seeing the new Wi-Fi signal, but I've no doubt that Google tech support will fix it.

After a lot of research I could not find a "list" price for Spectrum (TWC) services. The do advertise prices for new customers but I think existing customer pricing is based on some kind of analytics of what you will pay.

There is no "list price" for spectrum or any cable or satellite tv provider.

Spectrum pricing for current customers is based on how much bitching you do and what rep you get on the phone. When you have competitionin the 'hood - my how prices change. When i cancelled spectrum and directtv last week , the deals they offered were pretty impressive. Offered to "thank you for your loyalty", spectrum offered to drop my rate $15tmo for life. Direct tv offered a $50 discount for 12 months I considered taking the tv deal - it would have saved me money, but it pisses me off that their gratitude for my loyalty only shows up when I cancel.

Capitalism. Competion in the marketplace. It works!

Yes, there are list prices.

If you're on Charter, enter your address here:

I'm not on any plan. I cut the cord a couple of years ago and have been paying $40/month for 100 mbps internet ever since (have my own router). I used to have their triple play plan with 300 mbps for $128/mon. special package price. Once the special price was over they wanted to charge me like $180 and that's when I cut the cord. We have 3 teenage boys and even with multiple people streaming at the same time, 100 mbps is plenty fast. I didn't notice any difference from 300 mbps. Unless you're downloading massive files, I don't see the point of the faster speed.
