The garage will definitely be taller than the library. Obviously the closer to the library you get, the less visible the garage will be behind it.

Perhaps the big mixed-use project in DT Cary isn't dead yet. From the town manager:

Quote:
Council member Don Frantz and I, along with staff members Ted Boyd, Susan Moran and Chris Simpson, met with members of Cary First Baptist Church and the development team of George Jordan to continue discussions about the proposed development at the corner of Harrison Avenue and Chatham Street. Council member Frantz reiterated the Town’s support of this project and all parties agreed we had three remaining items to work through. Our time was spent in very productive conversation. I appreciate the thoughtful consideration the Cary First Baptist Church Committee is giving to this development and the willingness of all parties to work together toward shared goals. The meeting concluded with resolution on the three items, and we collectively worked through our next steps to move this project forward. Again, I appreciate the time and commitment everyone has given to this project.

Good. I still wish it was condos rather than apartments.
Ownership stakes in DT Cary....

I'm guessing part of the reason this development pencils out is the idea of sharing parking between the office building, which needs parking on weekdays, and the church, which needs parking on Sunday mornings and perhaps Wednesday evenings.

Is that parking ... not way too big? What would draw so many people downtown Cary for the need of such size parking? Or am I missing something?

Future-proofing, which is good. The future park, for example, will draw people.

There was actually a thread on here recently where there were people complaining that there wasn't enough parking currently....which was funny.

You're not looking at future growth concerns.

It always amazes me how people tunnel vision things related to future economic development.

Not just the park, but the garage itself is going to be wrapped with mixed-use development.
