Just wondering if anyone knows of any family friendly events or happenings this week. We will be in town with a 2 and a 3 year old for the week and are looking for ideas.
The NC Museum of Art is always fun, especially their outside sculpture trail....good run around in the wood for kids. If you stop by the front desk before you go, they have these little bags they lend out for the inside and outside collections that you can use to get kids to look at/experience the art. When my kids were that age, I remember sitting with the bag in front of certain paintings trying to match shapes in the bag, or find the animals, whatever. On week days, the staff is quite used to families sitting on the floor in front of certain pieces.
Plus on Saturday, they are having a family discovery day: North Carolina Museum of Art - Children's*Events (http://ncartmuseum.org/events/children.shtml#workshop - broken link)
Thank you all so much for your suggestions. As a result, our trip was wonderful. We went to Marbles, Bullwinkles & Jumpin Beans. We also found a great place in Cary by accident. We were following our Tom Tom to Jumpin Beans and overshot the turn. We wound up in the Borders parkign lot on Buck Jones Road where they just opened a Monkey Joes. Our kids had an absolute BLAST!!! We went there at least 3 times that week. Here are some photos of the place:
It was the same price as Jumpin Beans, but had so much more for the kids. Plus it has the adult lounge and two comupters for use (no extra charge) and WiFi.
