I remember it well because we were working on the roof that day and it sucked!
These temps are not that unusual for this area, it doesn't happen often but it does happen...
Wow.

I think this may be the coldest it will be since we moved here. From SF Bay Area.

Hey, we did have snow in San Jose once when I was in high school in 1975. You ain't seen nothing in the snow shutting down a region department like that

Stuck for half the day, people had their cross country skis out...

Do those things actually do anything? It doesn't seem that they could.

I actually put mine on a couple weeks ago. I've had them for a couple years, so I figured I'd finally use them. Like you said, it can't hurt and I already know I'm set with the hoses being disconnected before the 72-hour continuous sub-freezing temps come.

I disconnected hoses and wrapped my spigots this morning. Never ever did this in all my years in NY, but figured better safe than sorry. I've done what I can. No clue how to cut off the water supply to those.

Had frozen pipes a couple of times in NY, but only after days of single digit temps around the clock. My MBR gets VERY cold, may keep space heater on in there overnight. My sinks are running slow so I don't trust the drip.

Sleeping in Chapel Hill. Roads are terrible, apparently salt is slippery. Schools letting outhe early has caused massive problems.
