poppydog, you are correct. I was just using hyperbole. Maybe I should have written 'born here recently' but there still might be exceptions.

Not true. It is not illegal to travel in the left lane in the state of North Carolina on a highway designated and signposted for one way traffic.

Furthermore, it is illegal to drive in the left lane below the speed limit. So the left lane is the "fast lane" to the extent of the speed limit.

Are you sure? That is basically saying it's illegal not to break the law. It could get kinda circular...

I'm being a little snarky/sarcastic, but I'm asking a sincere question.

On most 60mph interstates (iirc) the low number is 45.

But I don't think any such law is about which lane you're in.
Doing stupid isn't discriminated on by law.

How so? If the speed limit is 65, then it is illegal to go 50 in the left lane. Move to the right.

In other words the only legal speed in the left lane is the speed limit. No more, no less.

I agree with your points and said nothing about legality. Less focus on rules and laws and more on common sense.

It's all about not being stoopid on the road just because one woke up late and is now in a hurry so feel it ok to put other's lives in danger.

I have seen some stupid drivers recently. Some drivers park in a fire lane as if they are going inside a store to commit a crime. Some drivers park in handicap spaces without handicap placards and appropriate handicap license plates. Some drivers talk on their cell phones thinking their phone calls are more important than driving.

The stupidity that I saw today were the cars that had a bit of the drivers side windshield cleared off but the passenger side and rear window completely covered in snow/ice. Common sense eludes some people....

From the Holly Springs Police, might be time to move OP, unless you plan to be a busy body here to

"Now that the initial storm is behind us and the residual road issues are winding down from our latest winter weather event, we would like to take a moment and simply say thank you! Our citizens and business owners heeded the warnings about the dangerous driving conditions. As a result, our department is happy to announce that we had zero reported motor vehicle accidents during the storm this weekend. In addition, we would like to thank our town road crews for working so diligently to ensure those that needed to travel could do so on the best road surfaces available at the time of the event. This is another example of the powerful and successful relationship between town departments and our citizens."

This is such a huge pet peeve of mine.

I was out a while ago and the roads are 90% fine but the 10% that aren't are really bad....mostly turn lanes and corners.
