Once upon a time, they were. So were airline ticket prices. All that was swept away by deregulation from 1975 to 2000.

Why? You HAVE choices. Heck, you could even get a tablet with 4G and dump cable internet entirely. Same with airlines. Let the buyer vote with their dollars.

I'll agree that utility companies need some government regulation - we have NO choices for electric, water and natural gas services.

The lower-cost program, called Spectrum Internet Assist, is half the price of Spectrum's offering when bundled with other products, at $14.99 per month.

You can't just get Internet access only.
