IDEA RALEIGH is a competition that challenges applicants to come up with ideas for innovative projects or solutions that will make Raleigh a better place.
We are searching for ideas to cultivate and intend to put the best of those ideas into action. Select innovations will be brought to life by city staff. Winning applicants will receive a $500 prize.
Citywide Challenge
If you have a great idea for a specific design intervention; a new way to activate and engage the community, such as a public event or community program; or, any other innovative idea to improve life in Raleigh, then this challenge is for you!
We are looking for ideas that will highlight hidden assets of our city, that will bring the community together in unique and invigorating ways, and that will demonstrate new and exciting opportunities to enhance the environment, economy, and equity of our city.
Activate Dix Park Challenge
Dorothea Dix Park is one of the most exciting projects happening in Raleigh today. This newly-acquired, 300+ acres of land has inspired countless visions of what a premier destination park could do for the city’s future.
This challenge seeks ideas for the Dix Park property while the community works through the master planning process. We are looking for ideas that will get people excited about Dix Park, that will bring activity and fun to the fields and trails there, and that will be as uniquely “Raleigh” as the park itself. Ideas can be installed on the property for as short as a day or up to six months!

There's a lot of opinions here, maybe there's some productive ideas to share with the city too?
