Hello all,

I am considering relocating to NC from Northeast and I would appreciate an advise with a good community to raise family, but has homes with basement.

Thank you

Are you looking for something brand new? A lot of the older homes have basements.

There are a few basements scattered around, but they're not a big thing here in the South like they are in the North.

Good luck. As another relocating to NC from an area where basements are very common, you'll find them few and far between around the Triangle, like many parts of the country. Just stipulate basement on real estate searches, or your realtor can, but be prepared for far fewer hits. You'll find some fully finished first floor walkouts, sorta like a basement, on lots with the grade for it more than northeastern full basements.

Thank you for your response. I would love new construction, but anything less than 5 years would be great.

You won't find any one community where all homes have basements, but a great many where you can have a basement built.
So, really the devil is always in the details.

What do you want to be near?
How much land?
And.... $$$? You can have just about anything if your checkbook and credit are phat enough.

3 story finished downstairs things built on slopes aren't uncommon do you need a basement per-se is this some sort of bunker?

lots of newer construction also has 3rd floor rec rooms... so an upstairs basement

If you're looking for a basement for extra finish-able space, many houses here have finished bonus rooms above the garage, or a finished attic.

If you're looking for a basement for storage, get rid of some crap

If you're looking for a basement for a workshop or something of that sort, then I totally get it. It'll be tough to find but they're out there. As mentioned above, usually not a full basement, but built into a slope. Another option would be to look for a 3-car garage, depending on budget.

If you're willing to look in Fuquay Varina/Holly Springs, there are homes being built in Sunset Bluffs with amazing basements. They're not finished, but that could easily be done. They've got 12-14 foot ceilings!
