I am a very very very picky in terms of my hair. I am seeking a HairStylist who CAN ACTUALLY cut pixie cuts the right way from the first time and without me re-doing it somewhere else. And also who can do the highlights without burning the hair and greenish toner. Does not have to be the same person. I am a European and very spoiled with what European stylists can do. I am in 27614 zip code. Price and distance DO NOT matter as long as it is in the Triangle area. Can't go to NYC nor CA now so I have to find someone here. Please exclude from suggestions: LUX, SAM COLE, VON KEKEL AVEDA, TANAS, any franchise, any mall salons. Thank you in advance for your help!
I wore my hair in a pixie cut for more than 20 years. Best cut I EVER had for that style was from Bonnie at Blo in Brier Creek. Other's with short hair agree.
(I don't go to her anymore due to price increases. As a result, I've grown out my pixie cut. It always surprises me that longer hair is easier to cut properly than short hair).
Go to Yelp and look at some of the pics from Donnie at Dennis Best Men's Salon in Durham.
He's AMAZING with both men's cuts and pixies. Seriously, the best. Hands down.
We also travel from 27614 and it's worth ever second.

You remind me of me when I first moved here. At that time my hair was short...not quite pixie short...more like a "boy cut" (think Demi Moore in Ghost). I was in Southern Season and saw a woman whose pixie I admired. She referred me to a salon in Chapel Hill which I still go to. I have grown my hair out now and I live in Southern Wake county but still go to HAIRSPRAYE. My gal is Cathy (CAT). When I met her I was struck about how much she didn't look like a typical stylist (she is casual and funky with tattoos). I am from NY and she is by far the most talentend colorist I have EVER had. I have stubborn gray and no matter what goes on my brunette head, it always wants to turn reddish/brassy and that doesn't work with my olive skin. She knows her craft extremely well and I have been using her 4 years now. The salon is a nice relaxing place too...not one of these fancy dancy types. Haircuts are $65. Not recalling what she charges for color or highlights.

Good luck. I have been in your shoes and I get it. Short hair is tricky business.
