Finally I saw some sun and I went outside - I was walking around the yard today to check for water issues and standing water around the house, and saw this hatched egg about 2 feet from my house foundation. I have never seen this before. Anyone know what this could be?
When making an image of this kind it is helpful to put a familiar object in the field, to give the viewer a sense of scale. A 12-inch ruler or a dollar bill or your own hand.
My guess: it is the shell of a Canada Goose egg which did not hatch. The egg was victim of a predator.
Predators of Canada geese and their eggs include humans, coyotes, raccoons, skunks, bobcats, and foxes, as well as gulls, eagles, crows, ravens, and magpies.
Chicken...its a chicken. Real question is which came first?
