I think your Durham Chapel Hill score may be a little low. Using the link I posted earlier I moused over some precincts in Durham with over 90% for Clinton.

I appreciate your point, and yes, I struggled with what "score" to assign to several of these.

Keep in mind, the score is completely a matter of opinion on a metric that comes from my perception and experiences, along with some knowledge on voting patterns, so there's plenty of room for others to perceive it a little differently. I reserved a "10" for those areas that are nationally recognized as being among the nation's most liberal, so an "8" is still really high, especially by NC standards. I even considered placing Asheville in the same category as Durham/Chapel Hill, but then didn't think that because Asheville seems to have greater extremes between conservative and liberal whereas Durham and Chapel Hill are more consistent. If you included the entirety of both Durham and Orange counties, with Northern Durham County and the even larger span of Northern Orange County, the "8" might seem inflated toward the liberal side.

There are 3142 county entries.

DC was the most liberal with 93%(!) of the vote going to Hillary. San Francisco (86%) comes in at #9 behind Prince George Co MD (89%), the Bronx (89%), Petersburg VA (88%), NY county NY (87%), Jefferson County MS (86%), and Oglala County SD (86%). Durham comes in at #25, with 79% of voters, voting Democrat. Charlottesville VA comes in at #20 (80%). Marin County CA comes in at #26 (79%).
Orange County NC comes in at 52 (74%). Mecklenberg is #145. Wake County comes in at #226.

Here's how the top Dem NC counties stack up:
#25: Durham 79% D
#52: Orange 74% D
#86: Hertford 68% D
#116: Warren 66% D
#121: Edgecombe 66% D
#145: Mecklenberg 63% D
#149: Halifax 63% D
#151: Northhampton 63% D

Top 10 GOP counties are Roberts County TX with 95%(!) of the vote going for Trump, King County TX (93%), Grant County NE (93%), Hates County NE (92%), Motley County TX (92%), Glasscock County TX (92%), Shackelford County TX (92%), McMullen County TX (91%), Garfield County TX (91%).

Top GOP NC Counties are:

#583 Cherokee 77% R

Thank you everyone for your replies! It definitely looks like Raleigh is an accepting city which has a fair share of Iranian immigrants which makes me Husband excited. Can't wait to visit!
