Hi guys!
Me and my husband are considering moving from Phoenix,Az to Durham,NC. What is a good neighborhood in Durham that is walkable to shops and resturants but still has houses with yards?

Is Durham a good place to raise 3 boys? (Ages 5, 3, and 12 months) as far as thing to do. I home school so I'm not worried about the school district.

What does young families do for fun?

We are taking a vacation in a few month to check out the area ourselves is there anywhere you would recommended going that gives us a really good feel of Durham life?

Thanks in advance!

Price range is important.

Woodcroft springs to mind. You could walk to a few restaurants and shops from there and there are nice trails. Very family-oriented neighborhood.

and define "nice yard". For some, that's a spot big enough for a swingset without hitting the house while in use. For others, it might mean room to play adult touch football

Depending on your price range, Cary, or H-S/F-V might be a better fit

Watts-Hillandale & Trinity Park are very established neighborhoods with older homes. Walkable to 9th street and downtown Durham.

Yeah Trinity Park could potentially be a great fit, but as others have said this question is impossible to answer without a price a range.

I'd worry about the kids on a busy street in Trinity Park. Would you let the kids ride a bicycle in the yard and hope they don't venture out into the street by accident? Yes, the area is convenient to Duke and downtown, but there is a lot of traffic. Says the one who lives in a subdivision.
