Does anyone know whatever happened to the Lidl Grocery Store that was planned for Cary? I see that Lidl has a number of grocery store openings in North Carolina in June, but the Cary location does not seem to be listed anywhere now.

Their site plan was only approved a couple of months ago, so it's still going to be a while.

That seems to be their M.O. They're putting one across from Harris Teeter & Target in Wilson on Raleigh Road Parkway, they're putting one across from Harris Teeter in Goldsboro on Wayne Memorial Drive and they're putting one here in Danville on the southwest corner of the intersection of Piedmont Place and Piedmont Drive next to Sam's Club and Food Lion.

Given how rapidly Lidl is expanding, I can't help but wonder how many of their stores will last for the long haul.

Lidl would be two limited assortment/discount grocers and two supermarkets.

Lidl stores are twice the size of Aldi. They're much more like a typical grocery store. I can't understand people's fascination/compulsion to label grocery stores and put them into separate little categories. No one cares about labeling a store as such and such.

Lidl, like Aldi, is a limited assortment/discount grocery store that focuses on a limited assortment of grocery items in bulk and discounted prices. Lidl's stores will have bakery departments, but they will not have delicatessen, meat, and produce departments.

Lidl sells meat, deli items and produce. I fail to understand some people's obsession with plastering labels on grocery stores.

Well, the industry itself spends a lot of time, effort and money pointing out different distinctions. Ever read Supermarket News?
