Carolina and Florida have a history of that. But I suspect it had a lot to do with the Canes' coaching staff, who probably bashed the players for being so soft after the second blowout by the Rangers.
Five years ago the West was dominant because they played tough, rough hockey. Pittsburgh pushed the pendulum back to the middle by emphasizing skill, but it hasn't swung to the other extreme of 2005-06 when the Canes won the Stanley Cup with speed and grace although very little grit. No grit in 2017-18, no playoffs. And then Quebec, Seattle, or Houston can complain about the style of play.
This team badly needs a Scott Walker, although McGinn is trying to play that role. Walker was the last good, snarly player on this team.
I enjoyed Ward's post-game interview, where he loved the pushback by the Canes.
Hey, Florida started it.
Nordstrom did lay a big hit out on the wall, though, to get the ball rolling. He has been doing more of that this year.
Absolutely thrilled with this news. I appreciate what Karmanos has done here but this team has been in need of new blood and new money for a long time. In order to make money you have spend it, and putting a better product on the ice will help to bring the fans back. Some of the tools are in place, but there's still some missing from the box.
I'm hoping this guy will help market this team better outside Raleigh. I would love for a preseason game to come to Charlotte or Greensboro on a yearly basis, it would make more sense than playing them as the home team in Halifax or Saskatoon every year.
Best part, now the Quebecers will leave us alone. Maybe.
Fell asleep at the end of 2 with the score 1-1.
Woke up to see Lindholm make it 4-2.
Then 4-4 in 10 seconds.
Slavin!
Going to have to play 60 minutes tonight with CBJ in town.
Of course, CBJ is a playoff lock, so giving them a point to win in OT or SO won't hurt too bad.
But we need 2 points, and it will get intriguing again in the standings.
Taking 2 points in Vegas, and then seeing them beat the Penguins in regulation?
Priceless!
I hope we see more of last nights team and no more of Tuesdays team.
I would have liked to see them score on Saros.
But, 4-1? Glad to have the win!
And, it would have been nice if CBJ had closed out the Pens in regulation Thursday.
When you are always playing catchup in the standings, 3 points between others in the division for OT doesn't help.
Canes certainly need to beat the Sabres in Regulation tonight.
We will be right behind the bench to lend support.
At 15-12-7 and 37 points, the Canes are right where they were after 34 games in 2016-2017.
So, we are again counting on the other teams to stall the ones we are chasing.

Have fun tonight! Hopefully some players who haven't scored in awhile (TT, Aho looking at you!) find the scoring touch.
