Just curious if anyone has attended a RE school. I'm interested in it more for the educational aspect, not looking to become a Realtor. Cost seems to run around $450 and then 3x $200 within three years to get the full license if I'm reading the material correctly. Would be taking the weekend classes. Looking at HPW.

Wake Tech would probably be less expensive.

Wow that would be awesome, it's right down the street from me and half the cost. But I can't guarantee every Tues and Thurs off. Nuts.

Funny! I said the same thing when I took my RE classes...just wanted something to do while kids were in school. I thought taking the classes (with no intention of working) would be FUN!

Here I am...18 years later!!!

The classes were NOT fun. They classes are all about the LAWS of NC in regards to Real Estate.

Once you pass the exam and sign up with a large company, you then take their 2 to 3 week classes which teach you about filling out contracts, etc.

I took my classes at Wake Tech because I was in no hurry. I went 2 days a week with a friend of mine until she didn't pass the first exam and dropped out!!!

I would go with HPW or Fonville, or Go Realty for my classes. The class material is so dense that you need someone who can make it relate.

Thanks Bo I looked at Fonville as well as I like them as a company but their schedules didn't fit mine IIRC.

I did JY Monk, on Creedmoor Rd. I liked the instructor, but she is no longer with them.

They offer weekends, too, and at that $459 price you mention.

If you do it, I would suggest trying to punch out the 90 hours postlicensing as quickly as you can, rather than drag it out over 3 years.

Yeah that was my intention too

Mike

What is the deal with the 90 hours thing. From my understanding the first run course basically gets you nothing. Once doing the additional 90 hours you become a full broker, but wasn't sure what that really meant. Also I'd like to transfer my license to other states and it looks like finishing the full course is the best way to do that.

I have been kicking this idea around forever, too, wheelsup. Too bad you don't live near me. We could totally be RE classmates!
