I would like to buy a new home in the Raleigh area. I am interested in learning more about the opinions and experiences of new homeowners who made a purchase from the mass production home builders. Is their any particular home builder that you would not recommend?

We bought from Toll Brothers and wereally generally happy with the process and very happy with the home. We would recommend them with the proviso that a buyer's agentis essential.

One of our neighbors HATED the process, but is happy with the home.

Another neighbor disliked the process, complains his previous home was better construction and bad mouths Toll constantly.

It's always a matter of opinion, expectations and perspective.

Most of my friends who have bought new houses and Townhouses are been happy with the quality. Some items were replaced themselves due to the builder using cheap stuff. The important part is to make sure the actual structure is solid, no water leaks, keeping humidity and moisture problems low, etc. Think Mike Holmes in HGTV/DIY.

Most of this depends on whether the construction manager that is in charge of your house actually gives a damn.
